Working in the health and social care sector is very rewarding. The care
sector is forever growing and in need of dedicated skilled professionals to help
provide support.


This programme is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge to
progress into this exciting sector

This course is suitable for students who
have achieved a 4/C grade in English and Maths.

Course information


On this course, you will gain a strong introduction to the health and social
care sector, focusing on the person-centred values and approaches required to
work with individuals in care settings.


You will study:



  • Human lifespan development, exploring how people grow and develop from
    birth through to later adulthood

  • Meeting individual care and support needs, where you will learn how to
    support individuals in a way that respects their needs, preferences and
    wellbeing

You will develop essential employability and transferable skills, including,
critical thinking and problem-solving, effective communication and teamwork and
independent learning and research skills.


After learning about health and social care you will be able to go into a
work placement. There you will be providing support and services, either in a
team or individually, to individuals who have physical, mental, or social needs.
Our dedicated Industry Liaison Officers will match you with a placement that
supports your interests and career goals, with many students going on to secure
paid work as a result.
