Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media Production

This course is suitable for students who have achieved a 4/C grade in English and Maths. If you have not yet achieved this grade you will need to complete the course over two years. This provides you with additional time to achieve a Level 2 in English and/or Maths, with additional trips, activities, employer engagement opportunities.

You will also be required to show a portfolio of work when you apply. In instances where little or no portfolio and/or performance experience is shown, we will guide you towards the best course to help you build your portfolio and develop the skills and knowledge you need to succeed at higher levels.

You will be assessed through multiple projects that will build your creative skills. You will develop and workshop ideas during group projects, presentations and written assignments, whilst also showcasing the skills you’ve learnt within practical production work.

You’ll build an impressive portfolio throughout the course, with each project giving you the chance to experiment and refine skills that meet real industry standards.

At the end of the course, you will also complete a Final Major Project. this is your opportunity to take creative control and develop a project you’re passionate about. You will be tasked with producing a standout piece of work that showcases your skills, ideas and readiness for the next step in your creative journey.

This course is designed to prepare you for your next step.

After completing Level 2, you can progress onto a Level 3 course in a specialist area such as media production, film and TV, games design or animation, where you’ll develop more advanced skills and begin shaping your career direction.

You could go on to explore careers in areas such as:
• Film and video production
• Photography
• Audio and sound production
• Graphic and digital design
• Content creation
• Media and communications

You may also decide to step straight into an entry-level job or freelance in the creative sector. Entry-level roles could include studio assistant, freelance videographer or junior editor.

During the course you will have the chance to take part in lots of exciting trips and projects, from exploring production studios to working with live broadcasting stations.

From showcasing your work at the College’s end of year exhibition to taking part and even leading on community art shows, there are always opportunities for you to show off your work to your peers and industry professionals.

You will also be encouraged to show off your talents during exciting skills competitions where your artwork will be seen and judged by top industry professionals.

Additional dedicated Work Experience opportunities will be supported by our Industry Liaison Officer, who will find additional projects and placements that are right for you.

This course is designed to help you build confidence, develop practical skills and prepare for further progression. You’ll be supported throughout your learning with clear feedback and guidance, helping you grow your skills and get ready to move on to a Level 3 course and beyond.

English and Maths are an important part of the course. Depending on the qualifications you hold upon enrolment, you may be advised to study this qualification over one or two years. This will be thoroughly discussed at interview to ensure that you are on the most appropriate programme of study.
