Designed as an introduction, it’s the perfect way to develop your creative skills and prepare for progression onto a Level 3 course in media, film, games or another specialist area.

This course is suitable for students who have achieved a 4/C grade in English and Maths. If you have not yet achieved this grade you will need to complete the course over two years. This provides you with additional time to achieve a Level 2 in English and/or Maths, with additional trips, activities, employer engagement opportunities.

Course information

Start exploring the different areas of media production as you create content across a range of formats. You’ll experiment with video, photography, audio and design, building confidence as you discover what you enjoy most.

Get hands-on with industry-standard equipment as you film, record and edit your own work. From capturing footage and sound to shaping your final piece in post-production, you’ll learn how media products come together from start to finish.

Develop your ideas through research and planning, learning how to take a concept and turn it into a finished outcome. You’ll also explore the theory behind media, helping you understand how and why content connects with audiences.
