Inclusive Winter Festival brings festive cheer to EKC Ashford College

19 December 2025
Our students spread festive cheer across campus during the last week of term at our Inclusive Winter Festival.

Our students spread festive cheer across campus during the last week of term at our Inclusive Winter Festival.

The event, designed by our Student Experience team, celebrated Christmas in style, reflecting on the past 12 months.

We welcomed students, staff and the community to the event, where they could enjoy a wide range of activities, stalls, and entertainment, perfect for all age groups.

As the campus was transformed into a lively winter space, visitors sipped cups of hot chocolate, tried their luck at the lucky dip, decorated festive ornaments, and even met Santa himself in his grotto.

Our students were at the heart of the festival, helping to set up and run the stalls, greet visitors, and guide guests through the activities. Level 2 Early Years student and Students’ Union Vice-President, Brendan, was our Santa for the afternoon.

Asked what he loved about College this year, he said: “The support has been amazing. I’ve stepped up into a number of roles and everyone has made me feel welcome. My personal highlight has been going to Bali to learn about culture and leadership. It was a lot of fun.”

We were also delighted to welcome back former students, who returned to reconnect with staff, their friends, and to share with current students how College helped them progress with their futures.

Health and Social Care alumni, Chandrika, said: “College was one of the best times of my life. It’s given me so much confident to progress into university studying nursing, and I’m really happy with what I achieved.

“In College, I set up the inaugural ‘Celebration of Culture’ event and I’m proud that this now continues as an annual College event.”

Events like these throughout the year are an important part of the student experience, showcasing how students and staff can come together to create something special.

Deputy Principal, Gregor MacGregor, said of his favourite moment of 2025:

“One of the best things that’s happened this year is everything that the Students’ Union have done for student experience. There’s been so many trips and events that students have enjoyed, and I know next year will be just as rewarding.”

Students’ Union President, Ster, credited the event itself with being a highlight of 2025, saying: “The set up was a lot of work but it’s been so worth it. It’s great to see everyone coming together and having fun, and the fact we can do today, and throughout the year, means a lot to me.”

Our Inclusive Winter Festival was a fun-filled way to end the term, and a chance to celebrate the energy, creativity, and spirit our students bring to College every day.
