Students across all departments recently gained valuable insights into their future educational paths at this year’s Higher Education Fair.
The event brought together representatives from various universities and higher education establishments, all of whom offered students a unique opportunity to explore their options after College.
Staff from College Services have been working with higher education institutions to encourage students to consider their future academic pursuits and to see what their careers could look like.
The fair inspired our learners and the universities were pleased with the level of interaction throughout the day.
Access to Higher Education student, Katie, said: “It’s been a great opportunity for me to meet with universities and think about what I can do next. We’ve worked with Canterbury Christ Church University in a workshop the other week about our progression, so it’s been good to build on that knowledge.”
With Universities from across the country such as the University of Kent, University of Essex and the University of Brighton among those in attendance, all learners across the College were able to discover the many courses and pathways available.
Careers and Progression Officer, Thomas White, who organised the fair, said: “Thank you to all the universities who have come along today from such far differences. It’s been really useful for the students and there’s been some great interactions today. It’s always good to continue to build partnerships with nationwide educators, some of whom we are working with again in the next few months to provide workshops for our learners.”
Samantha Skinner, UniConnect Project Officer for East Kent Colleges Group said: “It’s an exciting event to be a part of. There are many universities here in attendance from all around, who are eager to talk to students and help them discover where they can go after College.”
The event highlighted the importance of making connections and gathering information to make well-informed decisions. For many of our students, this was their first chance to interact with universities and to see where a degree could take them.
Thank you to all those who attended on the day, including the University of Greenwich, University of Portsmouth, Canterbury Christ Church University and the University for the Creative Arts (UCA).
