Studying a Creative and Design course at EKC Ashford College can open a range of possibilities.

From creating short films to promote local businesses to having your artwork displayed in public spaces, you will gain a range of experiences that will boost your skills.

With our purpose-built creative facilities, equipped with dedicated computer suites and professional media equipment, you will work on many unique projects throughout your studies.

All of your work is added to your portfolio in-year, which will then be used for university applications and job interviews.

Here are just some of the creative careers you can explore once you finish your studies with us:

Graphic Designer:

Use your design skills to create compelling visuals for brands, advertising campaigns, and digital media. Your work could range from designing logos and branding materials, to creating layouts for magazines and websites.

Set Designer:

Bring stories to life by creating the visual environments for theatrical productions, films, or television shows. Your work will involve designing and constructing sets that transport audiences to different worlds and eras.

Animator:

Captivate audiences of all ages through animation, working on films, or video games. Whether you’re creating hand-drawn animations or working with the latest 3D software, your work can fit into many artistic mediums. Our learners have previously created projects around stop-motion photography and claymation.

Tattoo Artist:

If you’re a keen illustrator, good with people and business-minded, you can express your artistic talents through the art form of tattoos. Taking part in College projects and social action will enable you to gain customer service skills and business and project management skills that are vital for any tattoo artist. Your work could involve creating custom designs and mastering various techniques by working in a tattoo studio.

Illustrator:

Produce illustrations for books, magazines, advertising, and product packaging, and make your ideas stand out. Your illustrations will help tell stories, explain complex ideas, or add a touch of creativity to everyday items.

Art Therapist:

Use your artistic skills alongside psychology and counselling to help individuals express themselves and cope with emotional or behavioural challenges through art. Your work could involve leading art therapy sessions in hospitals and schools.

Product Designer:

Look into form and function to create innovative and user-friendly products. Your work could involve designing consumer goods, considering both how they look and how they work. On our Creative courses, you are set custom briefs where you create unique artworks that fit a theme. This gives you an insight into this job role.

Photographer:

Capture moments, tell stories, and create art through the lens of your camera in fields such as portrait, landscape, fashion, or commercial photography. Your work might appear in galleries, magazines, or as part of an advertising campaign. Experiment in College with capturing the perfect image thanks to professional photography equipment such as lighting rigs and digital cameras, and a green screen studio space.

Art Director:

Lead the visual styling and imagery of magazines, advertising, product packaging, and movie productions. As an art director, you will oversee the visual aspects of a project, ensuring a cohesive and appealing look.  This role requires you to have artistic talent, management skills, and a keen eye for design.

Students get to see what it is like to be an art director with a range of exhibitions throughout the year that they show their work in.

These are just a few examples of the many creative careers you could pursue with a background in Creative and Design.
