There was an exciting buzz at EKC Ashford College today as local businesses set up their stalls for the Careers Fair.
The event, which took place across the first and second floors of the College, offered students a wide range of opportunities to explore. Businesses from different sectors were on hand, sharing valuable insights and career advice to help students discover their potential career paths.
Students from all departments engaged with the stallholders, learning about the diverse opportunities available to them in the future.

Erica Thomas, currently studying Education and Early Years, told us: “I am currently looking for a part-time job whilst I am at College, and I have spoken to companies offering customer service roles which is great.
“It has been very helpful to come along today. It is also important to think about all our career options for after College”
Another Early Years student, Riley Blackman, added: “There are skills we learn on our course which we would use in other jobs. We are young and the possibilities are endless!”

The businesses in attendance were impressed with the enthusiasm and engagement levels from the ambitious learners.
Caroline Taylor, the HR manager at BTL UK, an engineering company commented: “We have been impressed with EKC students as Apprentices in the past and are looking out for more recruits.”
Many of the businesses at the event were focused on offering Apprenticeships to attract the next generation of employees. From hospitality to construction, it was clear that there is a strong demand for Apprentices across various industries.
With experience tutoring alumni as Apprentices in the past, Tony Collins, Operations Director at Park Farm Construction, mentioned: “Apprenticeships are the way forwards. Students learn real world skills if they join us as an Apprentice.”

Careers Advisor at EKC Ashford College, Tom White, who organised the successful event shared: “Firstly we would like to say a big thank-you to all of the organisations who have given up their valuable time to come and engage with our learners at EKC Ashford College today.
“We place a high value on our relationships with local and national employers and events like this really do open the learners’ eyes to opportunities ahead for them.
“Many of our learners have gained valuable information from our visitors today, including guidance on pathways into apprenticeship, training opportunities and advice on applying for employment.
“I know a lot of our teaching staff have made links with employers today to arrange for future activities for their learners which is fantastic. Overall, the event created a great buzz around the College, and we are looking forward to future events.”
